2nd ESO - WORKING ABOUT CASTLES!!!

The castle was the center of power of the nobles and kings in the Middle Ages. Now you're going to do some research to learn more about them. Visit the next link and try to answer the following questions:




  • Why were castles created?
  • Who lived in them?
  • Where were medieval castles generally located?
  • What were the most important elements in a castle?
  • What was the purpose of these elements?
  • Where in the castle did the lord and his family live?
  • What were the main problems about living in a castle?
  • What activities took place at the castle?

When you finished and if you have enough time, try to continue you investigation about castles in our region:
  • Is there a famous castle near your city?
  • Where is it located and when was it built?
  • Who used it? Is it still in good condition today?
  • Is it still used for anything?

CULTURE AND ART IN AL-ANDALUS - 2nd ESO

Córdoba was the most important city of Al-Andalus and there, a very important mosque was built .

Before studying this construction it is necessary to understand the scheme that was applied to the most of the mosques in the islamic world during the middle ages.

Firstly, you have to learn about the most common scheme of an islamic mosque using the next link:


Write down in your notebook the different parts of a mosque and its functions (in English).

Finally, you could go to this other link - CORDOBA MOSQUE - and explore the building. Identify the different parts you have discovered on the first exercise.
